The island of Rhodes, the host of the final WCF International Chess Tournament 2025, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe with beautiful sand beaches, lots of entertainment options and an incredible history going back tens of centuries!

Rhodes has several nicknames, such as "Island of the Sun", "Pearl Island" and "Island of the Knights", named after the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem, who ruled it from 1310 to 1522. The island is also famous for the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Medieval Old Town has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO while the ancient Temple of Athena Lindia, on the acropolis of Lindos, dates from about 300 BC.

Entry deadline

Registrations and bookings for the WCF Rhodes International Chess Tournament are possible until 19 May only through email rodos@worldchessfestival.com to the appointed Local Organiser.


System of Play

The games will be held in 9 rounds as a FIDE-rated Swiss system.

The time limit for each player is 90 minutes for 40 moves + 15 minutes for the rest of the game + 30 seconds increment for every move played, starting from the 1st move.

WCF Overall Winner

The overall winner of the World Chess Festival wins the title of “WCF Champion 2025”, his/her respective prize reward and a grant of €1,000 towards his/her participation in the next Continental Championship which is part of the World Championship cycle.
