This event is a great opportunity to combine 5-star summer holidays on the coast of a famous Greek island together with chess!

Europe and it has several nicknames, such as "Island of the Sun", "Pearl Island" and "Island of the Knights", named after the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem, who ruled the

Rhodes was also famous for the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Medieval Old Town of Rhodes has also been declared

European Titles
The winning team of each competition receives the title “European Youth Champion Team 2024” for its respective category. The winning team of the combined age category (sum of the match points from both tournaments open & girls) receives the title “Absolute European Youth Champion Team 2024” in its respective age category.

Anti-Cheating
Cheating is not tolerated in our tournaments and, as seasoned chess professionals, we have a long history of detecting suspicious behaviour in early stages and avoiding cheating incidents. Participation
The European Youth Team Chess Championships (EYTCC) will include four (4) separate competitions, an open and a girl’s competition in both categories U12 and U18.
The playing members of the teams shall not have reached the age of 12 or 18, depending on category, by 1st January 2024:
* Players U18 should be born on 1st January 2006 and later.
* Players U12 should be born on 1st January 2012 and later.
Each national federation member of the European Chess Union (ECU) has the right to enter up to 4 teams of four players and one reserve in the open competitions and up to 4 teams of two
female players and one reserve in the girl competitions. These teams may represent the federation, a region, a city, a club or a school.
Tournament System
The European Youth Team Championship shall be held according to Swiss system in 7 rounds, with two open sections and two sections for the girls’ teams, considered as separate
competitions.
According to ECU and FIDE rules, the time control will be 90 minutes for the whole game + 30 seconds increment for every move played starting from move 1.
Titles & Prizes
The winning team of the open competition receives the title “European Youth Champion Team 2024” in its respective category.
The winning team of the girls competition receives the title “European Youth Champion Team for Girls 2024” in its respective category.
The winning team of the combined age category of the competition (sum of the match points from both tournaments open & girls, then, if equal, sum of the game points) receives the title
“Absolute European Youth Champion Team 2024” in its respective age category.
The first three (3) teams in each competition will receive trophies. Each member of the winning team (players, reserve, and captain) will receive a gold medal. The members of the 2nd and
3rd placed teams will each receive a silver and bronze medal respectively.
The Winners (1st place) of the combined categories U18 & U12 will receive trophies and player medals.
